Communicating with our Families

We will inform you of any dates or upcoming events through communication such as newsletters, text, email, our EY Google Classroom and our twitter @GarnockPrimary. These will also include information about current learning in the Early Years and outside agencies and community involvement. Please check any communications regularly to keep up to date with EY events.

Clothing

Uniform is not compulsory in the Early Years Class, however it is an option should you wish to buy this for your child. Your child is free to wear whatever clothes you wish to our EYC, we only ask to be mindful that we do love our messy play in Early Years and although aprons are provided and materials are all child friendly, we want to make sure your child’s lovely clothes stay lovely too!

Our Learning

At Garnock Community Campus, we follow Pre-Birth to Three: Positive Outcomes for Scotland's Children and Families and the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence frameworks. Pre-Birth to Three: Positive Outcomes for Scotland's Children and Families focuses on four key principles - Rights of the child, Responsive Care, Respect and Relationships. Through careful observations, staff will provide responsive and planned experiences based on individual needs and interests. Curriculum for Excellence is for children and young people aged 3 – 18. Through the 8 curricular areas, we aim to develop your child as a Confident Individual, Successful Learner, an Effective Contributor and a Responsible Citizen. Once your child has completed their formal education, we hope to have equipped them with the skills to continue learning and the skills for life and work.

Your child’s time in the EY is part of the Early Level of Curriculum for Excellence and their individual and personal learning journal will reflect what they have learned, celebrating their unique successes and achievements!

In our Early Years Class we also follow further Scottish Government national practice guidance for early years. Realising the Ambition: Being Me supports our vision and approach to putting every child at the centre of our decision making, allowing us to provide high quality learning and experiences to the children and families engaging in our EYC. Realising the Ambition: Being Me applies to all children pre-birth and beyond, is very relevant for all ages and stages of development, and highlights our ethos and provision.

Curiosity Approach

We are also delighted to inform you that we are embarking on, an amazing Accreditation scheme to become one of the very first nurseries in Ayrshire to follow ‘The Curiosity Approach.’ This approach is specifically for forward thinking settings like our, who want to create beautiful environments for our incredible children. Inspiring them to be inquisitive and curious, creating the “thinkers and doers” of the future.
