About

The idea to start the rural skills course arose from the concept of setting up a school garden. Initially, the course allowed students to learn the basic principles of plant cultivation, health and safety rules when working with tools. National 4 course also provides the opportunity to explore the very diverse employment prospects that exist in land-based industries. The interest among students in the course grew each year.
It was decided to create another course which is the next step to obtaining an award.
National Progression Award (NPA) will gain knowledge of how a rural business enterprise operates and insight into one of the particular areas of rural skills: agriculture, estate skills and horticulture.
